What is it? Is it right for me?
Due to the incredibly effective and efficient way Havening* works with the brain, many people who have tried a lot of other things find this can be the technique that makes the difference they have been looking for.
Havening is in the family of psychosensory techniques. It can be considered the third pillar alongside psychotherapies (talk therapies) and psychopharmacology (medications) for the treatment of physical and emotional suffering. Havening Techniques® combine sensory stimuli (touch, taste, sound, smell, sight) with psychological interventions. Some others you may be aware of are Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Callahan technique–Thought Field Therapy (TFT), and Eye–Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
There are three distinct applications of Havening:
1) Emotional disturbances & encoded psychological trauma
2) Wellness, stress management & peak performance
3) A self-help tool
Whilst there are no guarantees, the Havening Techniques have been shown to help with:
-
Chronic pain
-
Distressing memories (broken relationships, shocking news, loss, embarrassment, etc.)
-
Victims of natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, etc.)
-
Victims of man-made disasters (war, fire, assault, home intrusion, etc. )
-
Fear of Abandonment
-
Grief
-
Cravings
-
PTSD
-
Panic Attacks
-
Emotional eating
-
and many other problems
After extensive research and testing Dr Ronald Ruden discovered the kind of touch which produces the most profound effect on our neurochemistry in regards to resolving painful events. What is now known as Havening Touch™ involves the face, the arms from the shoulders to elbows, and the hands, and can be facilitated by a practitioner or self administered.
Whilst some things can be dealt with effectively on your own it is advisable to seek out a qualified practitioner for the first two applications of Havening. This can then lead to training in Self Havening as a self help tool and make it a more effective and powerful part of your ongoing toolkit.
